In the United States, we celebrate a day called Memorial Day. It is a day where we honor those who gave their lives in wars past and present for their country. Memorials are for remembering. Memorials also remind us of the legacy left behind of those we honor. Although we celebrate the men and women who have died to keep us free as a nation, there is only One who can truly make us free... John 8:36 - “If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.” God said in Exodus 3:15 that His name would be a memorial unto all generations. So how are all generations affected by His name? 1. God makes all believers a memorial through their testimony. Revelation 12:11 - “And they over came him (the devil) by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony.” 2. God says to memorialize Him by worshipping Him on the Sabbath. Hebrews 10:25 - “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together...” 3. God’s Word is a memorial. Isaiah 40:8 - “ The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the Word of our God shall stand forever.” God has a lot to say about memorials. But the greatest memorial we could ever have is the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. Those who know Him are part of the legacy of God!
